Very interesting! Racism is so prevalent in our country (the U.S.) and so much a part of our history together that we can't help but see it everywhere. We forget that our story is not the same as that of others (another problem we have -- we look at the world as if everyone else surely must share our perspective!). Good analysis, Chris. Admittedly if this were a commercial here in America I would have to call it racist. Fried Chicken is one of the many stereotypes used to caricature and make fun of African Americans but this is, as you have pointed out, obviously a different context that has nothing to do with that stereotype. As a culture we've become quite sensitive to these things because there is still a deep culture of hatred in parts of America. The scars from the Civil Rights movement run quite deep for some people.

Come on, wake up you yankees this kfc ad is not racist it is to do with Australia and West Indies cricket having a fun time with a sport called cricket which none of you yankees have ever heard of nor even know where the West Indies are. Cricket has been challenged between these countries for many years So as far as i'm concerned get over it and when you know how to play cricket then and only then will you realise that "hey this ad isnt racist.
