Directing a camp is a very interesting experience!
All the things that used to just happen on camp, now don't happen unless i make sure someone is making them happen! Which i guess is kinda obvious when you think about it, but has just kinda surprised me lately.
The only thing not under control yet are our studies. We're not sure what we are going to do. So if you have any great suggestions for a week of evangelistic studies then that would be much appreciated. (in fact if you had them written and wanted to come on camp and do them, that would be great!!)
I think Waves (the camp i'm directing) should be a great week. We've got a relatively inexperienced team, but i think they are highly talented. I'm looking forward to a full on week!

don't stress too much about the studies. i don't remember any of the talks from either of the camps that strongly impacted on my becoming a christian. it's all about the friendly, open, respectful and close relationships with the leaders - at least, in my experience! and you definitely have tops leaders for that job.
ReplyDeletewhat's the theme for your camp? i have a vague memory of it being 'around the world' or something...
hey check out my new blog sometime (follow the link from my profile). it's pretty crap at the moment, but it'll hopefully be my point of contact for those that care while i'm in bangladesh.
What did you do last year? Lifeboat? Maybe you could appeal to Donald Miller yet again. I bet you could pick any of the chapters from the last half of Searching For God Knows What and find the Gospel. My recommendations for chapters to think about are:
ReplyDeleteTen - The Gospel of Jesus: It Never Was a Formula
or...
Twelve - Morality: Why I'm Better Than You
Good luck. I'm sure it will be fine. I remember hearing great things about last year from Josh.
On another note great job Australia for taking the Ashes. Too bad you guys are losing Warne. I guess all good things must end, at least in this life. Peace man.
